Collaboration between Allied Vision and Avnet Silica strengthened

EMEA-wide partnership with Allied Vision expands Avnet Silica’s embedded vision solutions portfolio

Avnet Silica expands its embedded vision solutions portfolio through EMEA-wide partnership with Allied Vision. Their mainline driver for Alvium cameras has been integrated and accepted into the Linux kernel, simplifying the integration of Alvium cameras into Linux and ARM platforms.

More and more vision applications are emerging in the field of AI and IOT edge. Therefore, customers have an increased need for fully integrated Embedded Vision solutions. With this in mind, Allied Vision and AVNET Silica, an Avnet company (NASDAQ: AVT), have agreed to strengthen their collaboration. Avnet Silica will include Allied Vision into its linecard as an EMEA-wide franchise. The agreement provides customers with complementary support for varied needs, from optics over cameras to image processing on embedded SoCs, through Avnet Silica’s EMEA Software and Services team.

Optimal compatibility with current and future embedded vision solutions
With its unique modular design, the Alvium platform offers a wide range of interfaces such as MIPI CSI-2 and GMSL2™, sensors, spectral sensitivities, resolutions, housing and mounting options as well as a driver API. For nearly every customer requirement for applications in the fields of Industrial Automation, Medical engineering, Logistics, Robotics and Food & Beverage, the appropriate integrated embedded vision solution can be developed quickly and easily now. It enables Avnet Silica customers to leverage short lead times and swiftly meet market demands, offering a variety of image sensors.

Avnet Silica Software and Services EMEA’s mainline driver for Alvium cameras has been integrated and accepted into the Linux kernel. Avnet Silica has already presented demonstrations of Allied Vision’s GMSL2 Alvium camera on Windows 10 IoT and an NXP i.MX8MPlus running mainline Linux at embedded world 2024 in Nuremberg. Visitors were able to discover the benefits of Avnet Silica and Allied Vision’s collaboration by attending a series of seminars which focus on the selection of cameras and module-based prototyping with Allied Vision and Avnet Embedded module solutions:
