Students of Hamburg, Germany train teamwork and project management skills on real business cases.
Allied Vision Technologies participated in the kick-off meeting of Fishing for Experiences in Hamburg, Germany, on November 23, 2011. Fishing for Experience is a training program for students of the Hamburg area sponsored by the City of Hamburg and the European Union. Students are given the opportunity to improve their professional skills by working in small teams on real business cases submitted and supervised by partner companies from the region.
Three-Step Training
First step of the program is a series of seminars on project management and teamwork techniques. In a second phase, small groups of students work during 6 to 8 weeks on real business projects submitted by partner companies. Finally, the results are presented to business and university representatives.
Allied Vision Technologies is one of the partner companies via its R&D center Ahrensburg, which is located in the outskirts of Hamburg. The AVT-team will work on a project aiming to expand the company’s position on the infrared camera market.
Strategic Business Case
“We are looking forward to working with the students’ team”, said Henning Haider, Senior Director R&D at Allied Vision Technologies. “Since the acquisition of VDS Vosskühler earlier this year, the infrared market has become strategic to us. Our business case involves both market research and technology aspects so it is ideal for an interdisciplinary approach and offers the AVT team a valuable experience of the real business life. I look forward to the results!”
As a next step, Allied Vision Technologies welcomed the students‘ team for a visit of the Ahrensburg facilities and a kick-off meeting on November 30,2011.
