AVT Universal Package - more information
The AVT Universal Package is a comprehensive software development kit (SDK) designed for 32- and 64-bit Windows operating systems. The provided UniAPI initially could only be used with AVT 1394 cameras which have a much richer features set. But subsequent extensions have enabled that the UniAPI can be applied today with both IEEE 1394 and GigE Vision® compliant cameras from AVT. Nevertheless, the roots of this SDK cannot be denied, which becomes most obvious in the IIDC-like feature control options and a restricted support for GigE cameras.
The AVT Universal Package is available free of charge and provides the following components:
- High-performance OHCI compliant IEEE1394 bus driver supporting data rates up to 800 Mbit/s
- 1394 bus driver install tool inclusive silent driver install capabilities
- NDIS GigE filter driver reducing the CPU load significantly
- Universal application programming interfaces – UniAPI for short – applicable for all AVT cameras that is provided as C dynamic link library (DLL) and .Net assembly, which can be used with Microsoft’s Visual Studio or other development environments like Borland C++
- Viewer application (AVT UniCam) to evaluate certain camera Smart Features, or just to test and configure the camera itself, inclusive IP configuration for AVT GigE Vision® cameras
- Various examples based on the UniAPI
- User Guide as PDF, providing a general overview about the SDK and its installation
- Programmer’s reference manual as HTML online help (CHM file) describing the UniAPI and its usage
The AVT Universal Package enables programmers to develop basic interface independent machine vision applications, or where applicable to adapt existing source code (written previously for AVT 1394 cameras) for AVT GigE Vision cameras.
