AVT Fire4Linux v3.0 - RC1
This package is designed for those who are looking for a powerful alternative to the Windows world.
AVT Fire4Linux is an all-embracing SDK optimized for use with AVT cameras that is suitable for all Linux distributions. To ease the use of this SDK especially for Linux beginners the package supports also the standard packet managers of various distributions. The result meets the expectation of “Plug-and-Play”.
The AVT Fire4Linux SDK is provided as open source and therewith is free of charge. It contains the following components:
- libdc1394-avt - High-Level standard programming interface for IIDC/DCAM compliant 1394 cameras, extended by AVT 1394 camera specific methods.

- Comprehensive and easily operated viewer application to test AVT cameras and to experiment with their special features without any programming.

In the Download area the package is provided in two different formats:
- src.tar –Contains the original sources as gziped tarballs. This version can be installed on all Linux distributions.
- deb.tar – Contains the ready to use libs without sources as deb (Debian software package) archives. DEB files can easily be handled by the corresponding package manager of the available distributions. Thereby, in each case the 32- and 64-bit versions are provided
- rpm.tar – Contains the ready to use libs without sources as rpm (RedHat Package Manager) archives. RPM files can easily be handled by the corresponding package manager of the available distributions. Thereby, in each case the 32- and 64-bit versions are provided.

Distributions
The sources provided with the package are portable to all Linux distributions. Additionally, the package managers of (open) SUSE and Red Hat (Fedora) are supported.
