MATROX Software interfacing with AVT Cameras

The MATROX Imaging Library (MIL) is a high-level, easy-to-use programming library with an extensive set of optimized functions for image capture, processing, analysis, display and archiving.

AVT GigE Vision^® and FireWire cameras are fully compliant with MIL/MIL-Lite 8.0 (and later versions) and the provided drivers.

Besides the default operation via the corresponding MIL drivers, AVT provides an alternative option to acquire a MIL compliant image from our 1394 or GigE Vision compliant cameras by using AVT’s Universal API (UniAPI). A corresponding UniAPI-based example is part of the AVT Universal Package, which can be used camera interface independent and is free of charge.

For AVT 1394b cameras an additional advantage exists when applying the UniAPI, as those can be used with MIL/MIL-Lite even at S800 data rates under Windows Vista and XP (without performing a driver rollback), because of the high-performance IEEE 1394 bus driver, which replaces the standard driver provided by Microsoft and makes the 1394 camera driver provided with the MIL invalid.
