Optimal Use of 64-Bit Technology
under Windows

AVT’s FirePackage64 is a Software Development Kit (SDK) that meets the requirements necessary for developing extremely powerful image-processing applications.

With its signed 64-bit driver for AVT FireWire cameras and its easy-to-use C-Programming Interface (UniAPI), AVT’s FirePackage64 provides user-friendly access to 64-bit technology and is therefore a basic requirement for the development of image-processing applications that can take advantage of 64-bit technology.  These include applications that are very memory-intensive or CPU (or compute)-intensive, like video compression or scientific-technical calculations for object recognition or edge-detection.

Another advantage of AVT’s FirePackage64 is that the 1394 bus driver that comes with it, unlike the MicrosoftTM 1394 standard driver for 1394b cameras, is not limited to 400Mbit/s, but supports the maximum possible data rate of 800Mbit/s.

AVT’s FirePackage64 also makes it easy to migrate from existing 32-bit technology to 64-bit.  It helps that the 64-bit development environment is practically identical to the one for 32-bit Windows, and the APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) provided by AVT and MicrosoftTM fit, as much as possible, those on 32-bit systems, since many functions were simply modified to fit the higher computing precision of the new platform.
The 32-bit compatibility mode makes it easy to upgrade to 64-bit technology. With it, an application developed with the 32-bit version of the AVT FirePackage can also be used on a 64-bit system.
