11.05.07Allied Vision Technologies Invests Millions in the Expansion of the Stadtroda Production Facilities

Extension of the assembly building will double the production area.

At the beginning of April 2007, extensive construction work on the expansion of production and warehousing capabilities commenced at the headquarters of Allied Vision Technologies GmbH in Stadtroda, Germany. The project has been planned to double the production area of the leading provider in the field of industrial digital cameras.

Rapid Growth
Since the company started manufacturing industrial cameras in the German State of Thuringia in 2002, success accounted for a rapid growth in production volumes and turnover. For instance, the turnover in 2006 already exceeded 20 million Euros, while the workforce has increased from 34, in 2002, to today’s figure of more than 80.

The production facility in Stadtroda is buzzing with activity, and caters to the extreme demand for digital cameras for industrial and medical applications to customers throughout the world with its clean room manufacturing area. In the meantime, the facilities are already at full capacity for the highly qualified workforce, and space for storing high-tech components including AVT’s strategic inventory of sensors and finished products is already insufficient.

“Our order books are full – not only as a result of our success in Europe, but also due to the expansion of our sales network worldwide,” says a satisfied Frank Grube, CEO of Allied Vision Technologies GmbH. For the future, the company is expecting additional orders from new distributors in Asia and the recently opened subsidiary in the USA. “We must align our capacities with growing demand in order to further guarantee our customers the best possible quality of products and services in the future”, explains Grube.

Production is already running in two shifts, five days a week and at peak times also during the weekends. This means that production is currently working at full capacity. The investment plans accommodate an expansion of the current production area by 1,000 m² (10,764 sq. ft.). This increase will be employed in the expansion of production capabilities and the creation of new storage space. “We do not simply intend to produce more cameras, we also want to ensure that customer satisfaction with regard to our short delivery times is maintained at the same time as increasing our production volumes,” explains Frank Grube.

Production Begins at the End of 2007
In Stadtroda, the initial phase of installing the power cables and other supply lines has already been completed. At the beginning of April, the actual building construction work began. Completion of the new facilities is planned for November 2007.
