AVT FirePackage
The AVT FirePackage is a comprehensive software package designed for 32-bit or 64-bit Windows systems. Due to its high performance IEEE1394 bus driver, the contained SDK provides full access to and control of the Firewire bus and the corresponding image transmission for data rates of up to 800 Mbit/s (1394b).

The AVT FirePackage is available free of charge as a 32- or 64-bit version and provides the following components:

• a high performance IEEE1394 driver (FIREPACKAGE OHCI),
• several high and low level application programming interfaces (APIs) provided as C, C++ or .Net Dynamic Link Library (DLL), which can be used with Microsoft’s Visual Studio or other development environments like Borland C++,
• comprehensive camera viewer (Smartview.exe) optimized for use with AVT IEEE1394camerras to evaluate their SmartFeatures, or just to test and configure the camera itself,
• various examples based on the provided APIs, amongst others two open-source demo viewers,
• .pdf or .chm documents to describe the APIs and their usage.

In combination with AVT cameras and with their powerful SmartFeatures the AVT FirePackage enables programmers to develop high-performance machine vision application that require time-critical and asynchronous imaging, sometimes with rapidly changing data rates in single or multiple camera operation. Users requiring the performance of 64-Bit technology can rely on the 64-Bit version of the FirePackage SDK, which offers the same functionality.


Additional Information about the IEEE1394 Driver
The FIREPACKAGE OHCI driver is not a capture device driver based on the Microsoft IEEE1394 driver stack, but a bus driver. This means that the Microsoft driver is replaced on all cards the driver is installed to, and the access for devices and applications that require the Microsoft driver is blocked.
The big advantage of this approach is that the driver is highly efficient and stable and supports IEEE1394b at S800 speed by default.

• works with almost every IEEE1394a/b adapter, no matter whether OHCI or PCILynx, on board or PCI-Type or PCMCIA;

• can operate and displaymultiple cameras in parallel;

• is the ideal solution for your IEEE1394 camera application.

In addition, please note that the driver requires a separate license for non-AVT cameras.
