FireWire ™ Technology in the image processing has established and migrates with great speed more and more into the industrial area. Next to good image quality, solid and performing Software and cabling security also solutions get asked for increasingly, like being able to run huge installations also with several cameras under industrial conditions.

The industrial use of the FireWire ™ camera technik offers a big variety of secure transfer possibilities.


Available are different solutions for longer distances, depending on the needed transfer capacity.

Converter exist that are able to transform the 1394 protocol so that it can be transferred via Cat5 cable up to a distance of 100 m and a transfer capacity of 8MByte/s.

In case that the PC side is not equipped with FireWire ™, the installation of a combi-card directly into the PC would be an option, so that you would need each one adapter less.

If longer distances up to 1000 m needs to be spanned with or a higher data rate is needed, than the use of converters to GOF (Glass optical fibre) Multimode Fibers is recommended. Here it is possible, depending on the quality of the Fibers, to have several hundred meters with 400 Mbit/s (32 MByte/s) or even 800 Mbit/s (64 MByte/s) are possible.
