Unibrain is one of the earliest adopters and supporters of FireWire technology. As one of the pioneer members of 1394 Trade Association, Unibrain was the first company in the world to create a complete development SDK and drivers in Windows, supporting the industrial and machine vision market.
Today, Unibrain provides universal support of IIDC cameras, supporting all camera manufacturers and models, offering to customers the flexibility to use cameras from multiple vendors and develop software which controls them under a common environment.
Unibrain provides a native (true) 1394b (FireWire S800) driver solution for any version of Windows, which is used in a variety of industrial applications ranging from camera manufacturers to defense and aerospace applications and supports future enhancements of the standard at 1600 and 3200 Mbit/s.
On the hardware side Unibrain has a broad range of OEM and industrial FireWire cameras and high quality peripherals (adapters, repeaters, cables, optical solutions etc).

Software interfacing with AVT cameras

Fire-i API is a complete C/C++ Windows software development kit (SDK) for IIDC 1394 digital cameras with all the tools needed to develop and debug professional applications. Includes WDM kernel driver support for all popular industrial Firewire cameras, plus direct hardware access in user mode via a typical DLL library, both explorable by the development environment.

Fire-i X is an ActiveX and .NET based development kit for IIDC firewire cameras: Provides to developers a quick and simple way to add camera imaging to their projects utilizing ActiveX and .net programming environments. Includes the same WDM kernel driver and user mode DLL based camera control options, available in Fire-i API SDK.

ubCore Pro 1394b driver stack: Unibrain's 1394 stack supports fully the 1394b standard without the known (XP/Vista) Windows native driver limitations. The package includes a full camera control application, a bus topology viewer and low level tuning tools.

All Unibrain software products support AVT 1394a and 1394b cameras.
