Software interfacing with AVT Cameras

 is a suite of software tools for industrial vision and contains DLLs, ActiveX controls and .NET components for image processing and analysis.
The Open eVision libraries do not rely on any proprietary hardware device to run. They are able to process given-format bitmap images available in the host memory, whatever their origin. Thereby, color and monochrome images are supported. The images to be processed may come from any digital camera independent of its interface.

AVT follows this concept in an UniAPI-based example that makes clear how an Open eVision compliant image can be captured for AVT 1394 or GigE Vision cameras. The UniAPI and the corresponding example is provided with AVT’s camera interface independent Universal Package SDK, which is free of charge.

Another advantage of this approach is that Open eVision can be used with AVT 1394b cameras even at S800 data rates under Windows Vista and XP (without performing a driver rollback), because of the high-performance IEEE 1394 bus driver which is different to the standard driver provided by Microsoft.
